How we work with technology

At Liquid Digital, technology is a means to an end – not the story. Our senior strategists, creatives, and technologists select and apply tools based on what produces the best outcome for each client. Sometimes that’s a sophisticated digital stack. Sometimes it’s a whiteboard and a workshop.

Across more than 15 years, we’ve worked through many cycles of new technology. Our position remains consistent: human expertise and judgement drive every engagement. Technology amplifies that – it doesn’t replace it.

This page outlines our standards for evaluating, adopting, and governing the technology used in client work, including our specific standards for artificial intelligence.

Technology selection and governance

We maintain an internal approved tools register covering the platforms, software, and services used in client engagements. Tools are assessed before adoption across four criteria:

  • Security – data handling practices, certifications, and breach history
  • Privacy – compliance with Australian Privacy Principles and data sovereignty requirements
  • Reliability – track record, support, and contractual commitments
  • Fit – whether the tool genuinely improves outcomes or simply adds complexity

Client data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy regardless of which tools are used. We do not introduce new tools into active engagements without appropriate review.

Data and confidentiality

Client information is classified by sensitivity and handled accordingly. Confidential and commercially sensitive material is not processed through external platforms without explicit controls in place.

For engagements with specific data sovereignty, security clearance, or regulatory requirements, tool restrictions are agreed in the Statement of Work before work begins.

We do not use third‑party tools that retain, repurpose, or train on client data without explicit disclosure and consent.

Government and security‑cleared clients

For government agencies and clinical research clients operating under security clearance, data sovereignty, or sector‑specific regulatory requirements, we apply additional controls:

  • Restricted or classified information is not processed through external tools of any kind without written approval
  • A tiered data classification framework governs information handling across all platforms
  • Tool restrictions specific to the engagement can be agreed and documented in the Statement of Work

Our standards for artificial intelligence

Where AI tools are used in our work, we apply the following standards – aligned with the NAIC Guidance for AI Adoption (AI6), Australia’s primary framework for responsible AI governance (October 2025):

  • Human oversight – all AI‑assisted outputs are reviewed by a qualified team member before use in client work or external delivery. AI does not make decisions on behalf of clients.
  • Selective use – AI is applied only where it adds genuine value to research depth, production efficiency, or analytical capability. Many engagements involve no AI tooling.
  • Transparency – we disclose AI involvement where it is material to a client’s understanding of how a deliverable was produced.
  • Accuracy – AI outputs are verified against primary sources before being relied on. We do not present AI‑assisted content as independently verified fact without human validation.
  • No training on client data – we do not use AI tools that train on submitted client data. Where AI tools process personal information, they do so as data processors under appropriate agreements.
  • Tool governance – AI tools undergo the same security, privacy, and reliability assessment as all other tools before adoption.

Accountability

The Managing Director is accountable for technology governance at Liquid Digital. Internal policies govern how team members and contractors select and use tools in their work.
